A u-joint is a great upgrade over a rag joint. By replacing a rag joint with a u-joint, you eliminate any steering shaft movement from within the steering column.
Rag joints give a vague and imprecise feeling. U-joints provide a solid, precise feel of the steering system.
11/16"-36 spline side and 3/4"-36 spline opposite side.
This u-joint is specifically for use with a Borgeson replacement steering shaft (BU-990040) to install a Borgeson power steering box in place of the original long shaft steering box.
Rag joints allow the steering column shaft to slightly slide within the steering column which will stretch the rubber in the rag joint.
Also, heat from aftermarket headers can shorten the life expectancy of the rag joint as well.
U-joints experience none of these problems and provide a strong steering feel.
